Ah, welcome the first of the new characters to the story — Hinge! I figured there wasn’t enough fuzzy in Shimmer so far, and this is a tribute to my (evil) ferret of late. Somehow, there was just a lot of personality in that critter and so ferret-like creatures sometimes find their way into my stories! ^^;
As you can see, Kip doesn’t get along too well with “little beasties” as he calls them. I can’t tell you why he doesn’t like a number of different kinds of animals — he considers them to be similar to the monsters that live in Zot, I think.
On the other hand, Ben has a magnetic personality when it comes to animals. Later in his life, he learns how to communicate with animals of many kinds.. and has always been loved by and a lover of the creatures of the world.
