Here they’re discussing Ben (the whelp, as TsuMe likes to call him). Remember that stack of burnt books hinted at in Chapter 2? Maybe not.. but Aur noticed them on the table in Ben’s room. Apparently, Ben has been throwing a few temper tantrums to show his displeasure of being locked up in the tower. And things are only getting worse from there.
What does TsuMe mean when he says to Kip “You’re the one who knows about kids?”
Simply the fact that before the destruction of the Homeworld, Kip was actually a very devoted family man with a wife and a child of his own. As odd as that might seem, it was the loss of this family that has led him to the not-quite-stable mental standing that he’s currently suffering from. TsuMe, on the other hand, has a long history of not getting along with kids . So in a way, TsuMe is trying to wash his hands of the Ben situation in hopes that Kip can do better.
