Pilgrim's Song

This work represents one of the few records kept from the early days of the Mysidian Academy. This takes note that the magical foundation of the city was set by one simply known as the Pilgrim. There have been many early accounts of this green-eyed stranger from lands all over the Blue Planet that trace this Pilgrim and his teachings in just about every nation of the world. It is unknown how a traveler may have moved so freely before the days of Airships and the Serpent Road. But most scholars do agree that these accounts all point to the same individual*.

You always came as you went
Until the day you came no more.
Our times were filled with jubilance,
Harmony and the magic of life.
Such were the gifts that you brought.

Though you had no name to give,
Your reputation stretched long
Before you, like the path
That wound before your feet.
Such were the gifts that you brought.

Our knowing grew beyond knowing,
Truth shone through the green-eyed-flame.
Concepts we could not fathom,
For you were so far beyond us.
Such were the gifts that you brought.

The influence eternally engraved
Upon our souls. The lives you inspired —
Never again to fall into the shadow
Which we once masqueraded upon.
Such were the gifts that you brought.

To have been fortunate to know you,
To now live the secrets you unlocked,
The world has unfolded and I –
Given one last word – would thank you.
For the all the gifts that you brought.

* Author’s Note: The Pilgrim spoken of in these stories is in fact KluYa. However, the people of the Blue Planet are still unaware of the vast influence KluYa had to their world due to the fact that he sought to cover up any trace leading back to his name for most of the things that he created.
