Darkness to Light
Here's the compilation of what I'm here for, what I'm
doing with this writing, what point I want to make, why
I'm writing, and what you should expect from me in the
future...hmm...there's is still no logical explanation
for my dog-like devotion and over-obsession with FFIV.
Maybe the following will help you decide! ~7AAD I played FFII several years ago, around the time that it was first released, and I was instantly addicted to the series. The characters in the game actually had personalities and feelings, and sometimes I actually found myself cheering for them or asking "Why did so-and-so do that?" It was quite an experience...probably one I'll never forget... I never considered writing the story until several years after I finished the game (which, by the way, I finished many, many times). I often made up little stories in my head about the characters but I never wrote anything...I thought no one would really like to see anything about FFIV, after all, the game ended and now we have FFVII and FFVIII. Of course, being a loyal Squaresoft fan, I played those games, but it always seemes like something was missing. I think I decided what was missing was emotion...real feeling in the game...I know, it's virtually impossible to express full-fledged emotions in a video game; but I found out that I could use writing to take a game to a whole new level. One thing that I want to let the readers see is what the characters are thinking. It might not sound like a big deal, but it sometimes makes for very ironic situations later. Plus, writing a person's thoughts is more fulfilling...after all, do we ever really say exactly what we are thinking? Sometimes I dwell on a character's thoughts until it's starts to scare people, but it helps me bring the characters to life and give them more depth than they had in the game. I gave the characters very definite personalities, not unlike the ones they expressed in the game; they were just a bit lacking in development (which is expected when the game was made for the 16-bit SNES). These are just my personal interpretations of character dispositions, so please don't be offended if you disagree with one of the characters. My writing is mainly emotion-based...I want the readers to feel what the characters feel. It makes the characters more realistic if you can relate to them. I started this novel a year and a half ago, and I've been writing at every opportunity I could. I began just by writing..not really putting much into it...at last I decided "If I'm going to do this, I'm going to make it good..!" Honest, no watering down of emotions, no holds-barred writing is my ultimate goal, and it's up to the readers to decide if I have succeeded. I plan to continue writing for an indefinite period of time, and after I finish this novel; I'll immediately begin work on a follow-up. I am excited about it because it will be the first time I get to create a totally original story, and I plan to let my creativity shine! ********************* |
