Review:
The first thing that strikes with Final Fantasy IV - Celtic
Moon's sound is that it was never intended to sound much like the
game... The harmonics are there, but the rendition is really more
celtic than orchestral, which will feel fresh and different to
hardcore fans, but newcomers may feel lost at the change of
setting. All tracks have been heavily enhanced with new segments,
rating from decent to very good depending on the songs, although
in some cases they tend to break with the feel that is expected
out of a certain song, making the CD sound like a party
soundtrack at times...
The Final Fantasy IV soundtrack still is, to my opinion, the best soundtrack in the series, therefore I will state once that the music is wonderful and then stick to the actual rendition of it. The music is wonderful. There. About the rendition, there is very little that can be said about any track that does not apply to the whole disc, so here's just the few specifics I can come up with: Track 4 was made into some kind of a waltz; track 7 has a nice new intro; track 13 is a blast.
This is not a CD for everyone, but if you've loved the FFIV CD the way I did, or if you want to complete your collection, you could actually do much worse.
Final Score 7.5/10 [this is VERY GOOD]
